The NST : National swimmers break men’s 4x100m freestyle national record

KUALA LUMPUR: The quartet of Keith Lim, Welson Sim, Chan Jie and Foong Wei Tze smashed the men’s 4x100m freestyle national record by 0.73 seconds to finish sixth at the Asian Games in Jakarta on Wednesday.

They clocked 3:21.06 to erase their national record of 3:21.79 set at last year’s Kuala Lumpur Sea Games.

It was Malaysia’s second national record at the games after Welson’s feat in the 800m freestyle on Monday.

Japan, anchored by Juran Mizohata, set the new games record by clocking 3:12.68s for the gold medal, followed by China (3:13.29) and Singapore (3:17.22)
